Fuchikashira signed "Teikan" with NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon Tosogu. Ogawa Teikan was a son of Okawa Motosada who was a student of the first Taizan Motozane. There is an extant tsuba signed both by Teikan and his father. He was born in 1928 in Mito Hitachi province, after the death of his father he inherited family title Teiju and became a retainer of the Mito Tokugawa Daimyo and Bakufu of Edo. In his later years he lived in Edo and had a large studio with many students. It is said that he had great talent in copying works of Natsuo Kano. Teikan died around 1898. He created some great pieces so it is worth looking online to see them.
Fuchikashira is made of iron and decorated with solid gold inlay.
