Kyo-Kinko Zodiac Mitokoromono with NBTHK Hozon Tosogu
Mitokoromono is a set of kozuka, kogai and menuki. This set is decorated with 12 zodiac made in a style of kamon, Japanese family or personal crest. It is very interesting because at first glance it looks like a formal set.
According to NBTHK this set was made by Kyoto craftsman, therefore Kyo-Kinko attribution on certificate. Tere where many schools and makers in Kyoto and when NBTHK can't decide which one of them is responsible for creating item in question, they give it a brooder term, Kyoto Kinko.
Made of shakudo with nanako ground and gilded elements. It is worth noting that zodiacs are made in very high relief. On kogai relief is almost as thick as kogai itself.
This set was used and have a lot of signs of wear.
I have made some very detail close ups photos, however while watching them please note that it is not how the item looks like with naked eye. Magnification allows us to study piece better but does not reflect how the item actually looks like.
This set is in old hakogai, unfortunately it is not one made for this set. If you would like a new kiri box please let me know and I will switch it.
