Iron tsuba with NBTHK Tokubetsu Kichio certificate. Attributed by NBTHK to "Shoami Masanori". He lived in Nishijin Kyoto in Yamashiro Province around 1700. His son used the same name and worked in the same style, that is why their works are very difficult to distinguish. Therefore this tsuba could be work of either father or son.

Tsuba made of iron and decorated with two alloys of gold inlaid with nunome zogan technique. There is also silver and shibuichi inlay.

On this tsuba we can see Tori Kabuto. It is a head costume used in performance of Gagaku and in traditional arts performed in shrines and temples.

Made in Edo Period.
