Iron Soten School tsuba signed "Goshu Masashige" H 04462.0. Decorated with Ri Haku (Li Bai) looking at the Kan-Baku (Great Waterfall) located in Lushan. Li Bai was a Chinese poet of the Tang Dynasty that ruled over China between year 618 and 907.
On tsuba we can see Ri Haku with a child looking at the great waterfall. This is a common way of presenting this scene. However in most cases we will see just a Chinese style landscape. In here there are also many buildings that add a lot to this detail composition.
Tsuba is made of iron and carved. Decorated with a gold nunome zogan inlay. Faces are made with silver inlay.
Made in edo period.
