Waki Goto Style Shakudo Tsuba with Gilded Dragon - Early Edo
Shakudo tsuba decorated with two dragons among waves. One is gilded and the other is in a color of the base of the tsuba.
At first glance this tsuba has a bit of a Ko-Kinko feeling. However after closer inspection I believe it is Waki Goto School style. Waki Goto are side branches of the famous Goto family. Based on the style I would say that it was made in early edo period.
Tsuba has some damages however please try to look past them. The design is simple but it is very well done. Beautifully carved waves and precise dragon. It is a great pleasure to look at.
