Iron Nanban School tsuba. It is a rather interesting piece. It is made in the Nanban School style however quality of the workmanship and depicted items clearly suggest it was made in Japan.
It is decorated with a dragon and vines, but also plum blossom and Umebachi Kamon. Umebachi Kamon was used by Maeda Daimyo family from Kaga. It is a very prosperous family with a great devotion to quality craftsmanship. They just recently had a temporary exhibition in Tokyo National Museum that was just amazing as is showcased the their amazing attention to detail and quality of workmanship.
