Iron tsuba signed "Higo Tadamasa Bishu Josai". Therefore this tsuba was made by Tadamasa from Higo School (Edo Higo) in Josai district of Owari province. Unfortunately I am not able to find any information about this maker.
Signature is very uncommon. It is made with nunome zogan inlay and composition is different from what we usually see.
Tsuba made of iron and decorated with two gold alloys and silver nunome zogan inlay.
On tsuba phoenix and paulownia.
Made in late Edo period.
Size: 83 mm x 78 mm x 5 mm
