Shakudo Fuchikashira Decorataed with Fujiwara No Hidesato Killing a Huge Centipede
Fuchikashira decorated with the story of Fujiwara No Hidesato killing a huge centipede. This is one of the stories from "The Tale of Tawara Tōda", Japanese heroic tale recounting the stories of Fujiwara No Hidesato. In this particular one he was asked by a lady at the bridge to kill a huge centipede leaving on the mountain near lake Biwa. It turned out that the lady who asked him was actually a Court Lady from underwater "Dragon Palace". After he killed the centipede he was invited to the palace and granted treasures: sword, armour and inexhaustible bag of rice.
Made of shakudo with nanako and polished surface. With silver and copper inlay and gold and silver iroe.
