Fuchikashira signed "Hosono Sozaemon Masamori" with NBTHK Hozon Tosogu. He was a craftsman from Kyoto active from w late 17th century. There are extant pieces of his dated 1691 and 1713. According to some sources he lived till he was 70 years old. Unfortunately we do not know his exact date of birth or death. He created his original style of work with extremely small Kebori carvings with flat inlaid metals. Thanks to that he could create big landscapes or place 36 people on a small item like this one.
