tosShibuichi fuchikashira signed "Masakuni" with kao. Most probably it is Kunioka Masakuni active around 1800, know from different fuchikashira with hawk and monkey.
Decorated with bird of pray and money hiding in the trunk of the tree.
Made of shibuichi with solid silver, gold and copper inlay. Huge amount of precious metals used here is rather uncommon for a little know artist such as Masakuni, usually we would see a lot of iroe, but it is all solid gold here. Shibuichi base is made with a very high silver content and walls are thick. This makes it a very heavy set.
This fuchikashira was recently repatinated.
Made in late Edo period.
