Tsuba attributed to Otsuki School with NBTHK Hozon Tosogu. Decorated with wild goose and reeds. The artist decided to add rain and moon behind the clouds. Both of those excite our imagination making the whole scenery appear more real in our minds. Wild geese and reeds is a very common theme seen on Japanese and asian paintings. In Korea this theme is interpreted as a "Wish for comfortable old age". However from what I understand in Japan it is associated more with Zen, where it represent unity between spiritual and natural world.

Made of polished shibuichi. With inlaid gold, silver and shakudo. Those are real metals, not iroe. Moon is made with silver inlaid in hira zogan. It is really a high quality work.

Base of this tsuba is glossy green with traces of grey, typical of old shibuichi. On photo it looks a bit matt brown? I do not know why it is so.

Size: 69 mm x 63 mm x 3,5 mm
