Shinchu tsuba signed "Yukikiyo" with NBTHK Hozon Tosogu. Unfortunately we do not know much about this maker, according to Haynes Index he was connected to Hamano Yukihiro. According to Haynes Index he was active around 1800.
Decorated with Takenouchi No Sukune receiving two jades from the Dragon King. Takenouchi No Sukune lived in 1st century and was said to be an advisor to 5 Emperors of Japan. He is most famously know as a regent to Empress Jingu. Because of his legendary deeds and supernatural powers he is considered a diety. This tsuba shows a story about him slaying the see monster, for which Dragon King of the see presented him with two jades that had a power to control the see.
Made of shinchu and decorated with inlaid metals.
