Wild geese among waves sukashi tsuba by Akasaka School. With NBTHK Hozon Tosogu. This tsuba has been made from iron that has been folded many times. We can see that very clearly on the rim and inside the tsuba. If we look closely we can see few layers disappearing on the front side of this tsuba. I am not sure if the progressive delamination was planned, is a result of an experiment or mistake made during forging. Either way now it crated a very interesting surface to look at.
Made in edo period.
Size: 70 mm x 69 mm x 5 mm
